Anthropic + Ollama via Grip OS
Switch between Claude for complex reasoning and local Ollama models for routine tasks, saving API costs while maintaining privacy.
What You Can Do
Cost-optimized daily workflow
Use Ollama for quick questions and code completion, escalate to Claude for architecture reviews and complex debugging.
Offline fallback
Keep working when your internet drops — Ollama models run entirely on your Mac while Claude handles cloud tasks when connected.
Privacy-first triage
Route sensitive code and internal documents through local Ollama models, use Claude only for public or non-sensitive work.
Model comparison testing
Run the same prompt through Claude and a local model to compare quality and decide which is sufficient for a given task type.
How to Set Up
Install Ollama and pull your preferred model (e.g., ollama pull llama3.2).
Add your Anthropic API key in Grip Station > Settings > Model Providers.
Configure fallback routing: Anthropic primary, Ollama secondary.
Set cost thresholds to auto-route simple tasks to Ollama.
Test both providers with a sample prompt to verify connectivity.
