macOS Keychain + Grip OS

macOS Keychain provides hardware-backed encryption for storing sensitive credentials on Apple Silicon. Grip OS uses the Keychain as its exclusive credential store — every API key, OAuth token, and secret is stored with kSecAttrAccessibleAfterFirstUnlockThisDeviceOnly protection. The Keychain integration works automatically: when you add a provider key in settings, it goes straight to the Keychain. Sentinel can audit Keychain access patterns to detect anomalies.

1

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my API keys encrypted?
Yes. All credentials are stored in the macOS Keychain with hardware-backed encryption. On Apple Silicon, the Secure Enclave protects the master key.
Can I export my credentials?
Grip OS does not export credentials from the Keychain. This is intentional — credentials should only be readable by authorized apps on your device.
What happens if I reset my Mac?
Keychain items are tied to your macOS user account. If you migrate your user profile, credentials carry over. A clean install requires re-entering your API keys.
